From Vision to Reality:
The first Herzl Conference on Contemporary Zionism
The conference will take place at the Herzl Center on Mt.Herzl in Jerusalem, October 30-31,2019/1-2 Cheshvan,5780.
The first Herzl Conference, co-sponsored by The Herzl Center and Museum, The World Zionist Organization, The Public Council for the Commemoration of Theodor Herzl and Bank Leumi, will be held at the Herzl Center and Museum on Mt.Herzl in Jerusalem on 30th and 31st October. President Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin and past US Vice Presidential Candidate Senator Joe Lieberman will be the keynote speakers.
Speakers include Prof. Stanley Fischer, past Governor of The Bank of Israel and former Vice Chairman of the USA Federal Reserve; former Israeli ambassador to USA and past President of Tel Aviv University, Prof. Itamar Rabinovich, who is also the Chairman of the Conference and its Academic Committee; Prof.Manuel Trajtenberg, a noted Israeli economist; Shlomo Dovrat, Israei high-tech entrepreneur; Prof.Amnon Shashua, President and CEO of Mobileye and Senior Vice President at Intel Corporation and David Brodet, outgoing chairman of Bank Leumi.
This will be the first academic conference on Theodor Herzl in which the recently appointed Chairperson of The Herzl Center, former Member of Knesset Dr Aliza Lavie will be participating. She will chair a session on “Herzl’s Vision in The Mirror of Time.
The concluding session, “A State of The Jews or A Jewish State?” will be chaired by noted historian and expert on Theodor Herzl, Prof.Ariel Feldstein from Ben Gurion University with the participation of Rabbi Dr. Benny Lau, Dr.Daniel Polisar of the Shalem College and Prof.Dan Korn of the Interdisciplinary Center who also serves as Conference Director.
