Euro-Asian Jewish Congress to Select New Head

November 22, 2011 By eJP

Meeting in Jerusalem this week, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress is expected to confirm Vadim Shulman as the acting president of the organization. Shulman replaces Alexander Mashkevitch, who – as we previously reported – is stepping down to focus on business interests.

Shulman is is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Dnepropetrovsk Jewish Community and one of the main sponsors of the Krivoy Rog Jewish Community.

He participated in the financing of Kiev Central Synagogue (Brodsky Synagogue), has built a school and dormitory in Jerusalem for children from the former Soviet Union and financed the construction of a Jewish retirement home. Shulman was also the sole donor of a new synagogue in Kryvoy Rog, “Beit Shtern Shulman.”

Since 2006 Shulman has been heading the Ukrainian Tennis Federation.

In accordance with the EAJC Charter final approval of the President of the Congress should take place at an extraordinary meeting of the EAJC General Assembly, currently scheduled for the second quarter of 2012.
