Slingshot introduces
the Class of 2018
Slingshot has released its 13th Slingshot Guide to Jewish Innovation, which highlights some of the most ground-breaking organizations in Jewish life today.
In the guide’s introduction, Stefanie Rhodes – Slingshot’s Executive Director – explained that this year’s guide celebrates organizations led by and for Jews of color, LGBTQ Jews, Latinx Jews, Jews of every denomination, those who identify as Jew-“ish” and those who are seeking connection in a community they were not born into.
“These organizations represent the heart and soul of American Jewish life, especially in a time of deep division and brokenness in the world,” said Rhodes. “They are responding to urgent challenges and offering new ways to build a diverse and dynamic Jewish future.”
Among the hundreds of organizations that applied for inclusion in the guide, 50 were selected. A committee of evaluators viewed these organizations as offering the most innovative opportunities for engagement and achieving measurable results.
In addition to the 2018 national guide, Slingshot also published a regional edition for the Greater Chicago Area. The Chicago edition is generously supported by The Crown Family Philanthropies and the Jack and Goldie Wolfe Miller Fund.

The 2018 Slingshot Guide will be the last printed guide of its kind. Moving forward, Slingshot will continue to highlight and support innovative projects but will adapt its work to reflect new priorities.
