Next Big Jewish Idea; The Winner Is …
The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles announced the winner of its search for the Next Big Jewish Idea: Batsheva Frankel of Los Angeles will receive up to $100,000 in funding plus in-kind services from The Jewish Federation to turn her “LaunchBox” concept into a reality. The goal of LaunchBox is to engage more community members in L.A. to begin or increase incorporating Jewish traditions and rituals as part of their lives via interactive boxes delivered to homes. The boxes will be filled with fun activities, materials and links to online resources that will serve as “Nourishment for the Jewish soul.”
The Jewish Federation kicked off its Centennial year with Next Big Jewish Idea in order to provide an opportunity for individuals, nonprofits, businesses and organizations to submit their innovative ideas for programs that will strengthen and benefit the greater Los Angeles Jewish community. More than 350 ideas were submitted, with five finalists being chosen by popular vote, and an additional five selected by an external panel of judges who ultimately selected the winning idea. More than 100,000 votes were cast during the search. LaunchBox was originally submitted as JEWWW in a Box.
