Introducing SUMMIT: Jewish Visions
Are you the one who brings something to the table that no one else brings?
Are you a Torah scholar and a punk rock princess?
Are you a Ladino-speaking fiddler who raises the roof?
Do you think religion is a load of baloney, but enjoy reading Cynthia Ozick and consider it a sacred Jewish activity?
Are you annoyed by people you meet who say they’ve rejected Judaism, even when it seems to you that they never experienced it in an authentic way?
Do you want to hold Jewish institutions hostage because you feel that they do not represent you or what you stand for?
And: do you want to have a hand in shaping the future(s) of what it means to be Jewish?
SUMMIT Jewish Visions is a retreat scheduled to take place June 3-5, 2016 at Stony Point Center in Stony Point, New York.
The retreat stems from a simple thought:
What would happen if more of us thought and acted with CHUTZPAH when it came to Jewish life?
Theodor Herzl wrote in his journal in 1897 just after the First Zionist Congress: “At Basel I founded the Jewish state.” The idea of a Jewish state was preposterous in his day, and yet the State of Israel (whatever your political perspectives on it!) came into being decades later.
What preposterous things can we dream up today?
When we leave SUMMIT, we will say,
“At Stony Point, we created …”
What would you want us to say?
Will you stay home … or will you join us?
Join us at SUMMIT Jewish Visions.
