Conference and Think-Tank on the Future of Conservative/Traditional Egalitarian Judaism on Campus
Thanks to the generosity of the Myers Initiative for Rabbinic Leadership, a conference will be held to discuss the future of Conservative/Traditional-Egalitarian Judaism on campus titled Your Judaism, Your Campus. For the first time, the heads of the major movement organizations will be in direct conversation about the future of non-Orthodox Judaism in America, which is directly linked to the college campus. Leaders from the Jewish Theological Seminary, The National Ramah Commission, United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism and Mechon Hadar are all partnering for the event and will be in attendance.
Fourth year JTS rabbinical students, Megan Goldman and Jeremy Pappas will host a Shabbaton at Ramah Day Camp in Nyack April 12-13, 2013, followed by a think tank at the Jewish Theological Seminary on Sunday, April 14, 2013. The Shabbaton is aimed to inspire students, and the Sunday program is open to the greater public.
The community is coming together to assess the state of the burgeoning field: where we are now, where we would like to be, and most importantly, how we can get there. The event will focus on all aspects of building vibrant communities on campus: leadership development, Jewish practice, learning and growth.
