Birthright Israel Expands Eligibility to Include Trips for 27 to 32 Year Olds

December 7, 2017 By eJP

Courtesy Taglit Birthright Israel

For the first time since its founding, a limited number of Birthright Israel trip options for 27 to 32-year-olds will be introduced this summer in addition to the standard programming available for 18 to 26-year-olds.

According to Birthright, the maximum eligible age reflects changing societal trends with young adults making life decisions – such as getting married and having children – later in life. Building off of Birthright Israel’s most successful year in history with nearly 48,000 participants, this change will enable more Jewish young adults to develop connections with their heritage, the larger diaspora community and the State of Israel.

Summer registration will officially open on January 30th with an early bird option for pre-registered applicants on January 29th, 10am EST. Additional information is available at: birthrightisrael.com.

This information originates from Birthright Israel. In the event you have questions or require more details, please contact Birthright Israel directly.

Considering the current political climate in Israel/Palestine–the president of the United States just threw the entire peace process into turmoil yesterday, and there are already calls from radicals for a third intifada–this seems like a really tacky time to promote your Zionism-with-blinders-on agenda.

But hey, free vacation you millennials!

Hannah there was no peace process to throw into turmoil. You’re delusional if you think any real chance exists until there is a radical change in ideology & leadership amongst Palestinians.
I applaud Birthright for connecting so many Jews with their roots!

I would like to remind all readers that further comments that reference any peace process, or other political narratives, are all off topic to the post and will be deleted.

People are asking to go again when this is targeted to Jews who missed it the first time…wow. You got your free trip, don’t take it from others who haven’t gone once.

Birthright was a truly magical experience! It effected me so deeply it is hard to put to words. If you haven’t gone and are on the fence about signing up…. Please please go for it! It is NOT a vacation but it is an overwhelmingly positive experience that you will never forget!

    Thank you birthright!

This is great! I couldn’t go when I was younger and now I’m 31! I was so sad that I missed out on it so I hope I can get on a trip! Will everyone be able to go on the trip if we qualify? I just only have until next August to qualify!?

I would love a second chance at this. My first birthright at 18 was awful. Someone tried to rape me and I came down with a huge fever and the people running my trip didn’t give a damn about either situation.

Are there any programs like this for older people who cannot afford it? I am a young 60 and have not been able to afford this putting 3 kids in college, two of whom are still in college.

Love this announcement! I’m currently in Israel volunteering and leading a trip for couples mostly in their 30’s called HoneymoonIsrael. If you (responding to the person who is now 33 from the comments above) want an experience and you are married or in a committed relationship they are open to applications in 16 different US cities.

Is there a tour for those over 65 ???????

  22. Lucie says

Good morning, I am 31 so I will be looking for this as I learned about Birthright in my 27. I heard also about Honeymoon Israel (my husband is not eligible for Birthright) – please, do you know about program for people from Europe? I found it only for North America citizens.
Wish a great new year to all.
