Jewish Agency Provides Chanukah Youth Activities for Fire Victims
Hundreds of children from communities in the North who were evacuated from their homes because of the fire on the Carmel, will enjoy their Chanukah vacation with organized educational activities run by the Jewish Agency.
The initiative will include organized educational programs for children and will take place in areas which are safe and distant from the fire. Outings and performances in the center of the country will also be scheduled. The activities are being run in coordination with the relevant government authorities and in cooperation with both the Migdal Or Association and the Noar Ha’oved ve Halomed youth movement (Israel’s equivalent of the Habonim Youth Movement).
Chairman of the Jewish Agency Natan Sharansky said that since the fire broke out Thursday, representatives of Jewish Communities around the world have been calling, offering assistance, and expressing their condolences to the stricken families and good wishes to the security and rescue services.
Multiple organizations have launched fundraising drives to support local initiatives.
