Art Exhibition exploring ‘Boundaries and Otherness’ opens at Spertus
Outside Inside: Exploring Boundaries and Otherness will showcase new works created by the second Chicago cohort of Spertus Institute’s Midwest Jewish Artists Lab, a year-long initiative that brings together twelve local artists for workshops, study, and critiques. Spertus Institute is located at 610 S. Michigan Avenue. Its Ground Level Arts Lab gallery is free and open to the public.
Launched with a grant from the Covenant Foundation, the Midwest Jewish Artists Lab forges artistic collaborations, inspires new work, and broadens the impact of the arts in Jewish life. In addition to Chicago, there are cohorts in Kansas City, Madison, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis.
During the course of this year’s program, each participant created an artwork or series around the theme of “boundaries.” The resulting work encompasses an array of media and approaches, including installation, painting, photography, sculpture, and new media.
Outside Inside is on display from September 17, 2017 to January 7, 2018.
