Netanya Orphanage Sues Donor’s Estate

from Haaretz:

Business in Brief

An orphanage in Netanya operated by an association called the Kiryat Tzanz Home for Babies and Children yesterday sued the estate of deceased billionaire Sami Shamoon for $7 million. A year ago Yaacov Weinroth, the attorney representing the orphanage, wrote to the temporary executor of the estate, saying Shamoon had promised to pay to rebuild the orphanage. Weinroth said the orphanage had a written commitment from Shamoon for $7 million. Two years ago Shamoon told TheMarker in an interview he was building a magnificent orphanage in Netanya. The suit claims that Shamoon’s heirs are trying to evade fulfilling his wishes, and the orphanage has committed large sums based on Shamoon’s written promise. Shamoon’s brothers are fighting to get a larger share of his estate, the bulk of which was given in his will to his wife and daughter. (Nurit Roth)
