Feds Fund Chabad House’s Substance Abuse Programs

The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy awarded $625,000 grants to two Chabad-Lubavitch run grassroots initiatives to prevent and reduce youth substance abuse.

In announcing the total package of $22 million in Drug Free Communities Support Program grants to Chabad of Camarillo and Chabad of S. Fernando Valley and 167 other organizations across the country, national “Drug Czar” Gil Kerlikowske hailed the program as crucial towards protecting youth.

… Rabbi Aryeh Lang, director of Chabad of Camarillo and its Saving Lives Camarillo coalition of local law enforcement, educators and civic organizations, said that the five-year grant would help expand programs and fund a full-time coordinator.

Chabad of S. Fernando Valley’s similarly named Saving Lives S. Fernando Valley also won a five-year grant.

Each program uses methodologies employed by Chabad-Lubavitch of the West Coast’s drug rehabilitation center in Los Angeles.
