Trevor Pears receives Knighthood

Pears Foundation Executive Chair Trevor Pears has been awarded a Knighthood for Philanthropy in the 2017 Birthday Honours List:

“Trevor Pears is honoured for his philanthropic work in the UK and overseas. The Pears
Family Charitable Foundation has donated £100 million in the past ten years and Trevor
Pears has dedicated himself full time to philanthropy and running the foundation. The
foundation has worked with over 250 grantees, a quarter of which have received funding for five years or more. Areas covered include Holocaust education and anti-Semitism, youth social action through their funding of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, and funding for other youth groups. Activities overseas have included Project Darfur which galvanised the Jewish community’s response to the crisis in Darfur. He was also one of the main instigators of the Britain Israel Research and Academic Exchange Partnership which is one of the mainstays of the UK/Israel bilateral relationship.”
