Top French Business School Launches Philanthropy Chair

French business school ESSEC has launched a Philanthropy Chair with the objective of studying, enhancing and promoting the knowledge of philanthropy and its role in France and Europe.

The Chair has been established within ESSEC’s Institute of Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship (IIES) and will focus on the challenges associated with the creation, strategic development and management of philanthropic initiatives.

According to Professor Anne-Claire Pache, “Most knowledge in the area of philanthropy currently comes from the United States. Yet there are new, unique challenges associated with European philanthropy. Today there’s an important need for us to complement this rich American body of knowledge with European academic research. This is what makes the Philanthropy Chair truly relevant.”

Further funding for the Chair will come from the Fondation de France, KPMG, and three individual co-founders.
