The Reports of Whose Death?

We do not see eJewish Philanthropy as a voice to discuss the various streams of Judaism – except as they influence the broader philanthropic landscape. Though, as we did publish an interview between Rabbi Norman Lamm and The Jerusalem Post, we felt we needed to add this response from Rabbi Andrew Sacks, Director of the Masorti Rabbinical Assembly in Israel.

from the Jerusalem Post:

Saying Kaddish for Conservative Judaism

In his recent remarks to The Jerusalem Post, Rabbi Norman Lamm, the esteemed chancellor of Yeshiva University, pronounced the time near to say Kaddish [the prayer for the dead] for the Conservative and the Reform Movements.

I shall leave it to the leaders of the Reform Movement to react to his criticism of their stream – I shall react to his criticism of Conservative/Masorti Judaism.
