The Joint Takes An Axe

The JTA is reporting that the JDC, known to us all as “the Joint”, will be following in the footsteps of the UJC and making major staff-cuts this week.

As so many other global organizations, they are feeling the squeeze from the falling value of the U.S. dollar, both in Israel and the FSU, making it necessary to cut 60 staff positions world-wide. (if the figures quoted in the article are correct, many in Israel are VERY well paid!).

Read the JTA article here.

For a related article, see our post from earlier this morning that speaks about JAFI seeking new monies from the Knesset.

The budget discussions at the upcoming JAFI Board of Governor’s meetings should be loads of fun!
