The Jewish Teen Funders Network (JTFN) is accepting applications for the 4th cohort of its Foundation Board Incubator. The Foundation Board Incubator is an initiative from JTFN, funded by Laura Lauder and the Maimonides Fund, that partners with communities to launch new, high-investment, pluralistic and community-wide Jewish teen philanthropy programs. Jewish teen foundations (or boards) are a powerful model of Jewish teen engagement. “Now more than ever, we need to give our teens Jewish experiences that help them grow to become civic leaders!” says Laura Lauder. Utilizing experiential education, Jewish teen foundations introduce teens to collective grantmaking. The group process is guided by Jewish values and provides teens with opportunities to engage, hands-on, in tzedakah, gemilut chasadim, and tikkun olam through strategic philanthropy.

In the Foundation Board Incubator, JTFN works closely with selected communities, providing substantial educational and financial resources for up to three years to ensure program sustainability. Proposals are accepted, reviewed, and launched on a rolling basis. Programs in Cohort 4 must start by fall 2018.

Success in the Foundation Board Incubator program spans across the United States, including the Jewish Teen Foundation in San Diego, CA, the Jewish Teen Foundation of Greater Boston in Boston, MA, The Jewish Fund Teen Board in Detroit, MI, and the Teen Giving Project in Philadelphia, PA. It continues in programs worldwide at The Giving Initiative in Melbourne, Australia, the Jewish Teen Board of Greater Toronto in Toronto, Canada and Keren Baktana Teen Giving Circles in Israel.

JTFN is looking for community partners with an institutional communal host, such as a federation, community foundation, board of Jewish education, or Jewish community center, with a commitment to developing a new, high quality Jewish teen philanthropy program, and local leaders to champion and fund the program and exercise local leadership.

Applications for JTFN’s Foundation Board Incubator Cohort 4 are now open. Find more information here or contact Danielle Segal (danielle@jtfn.org), Program Manager at the Jewish Teen Funders Network.
