UJA-Federation of New York has released, Synagogue Engagement: Building Bridges to Young Adults.

The report takes a broad overview of the changing landscape in the North American Jewish community, as synagogues increasingly strategize and brainstorm to create innovative ways of providing young adults with meaningful entry points into Jewish life. For the past two years, UJA-Federation of New York has offered congregations in the five boroughs of New York City the opportunity to apply for small grants of $10,000 to pilot or expand their young-adult engagement efforts. The congregations that were awarded these grants were then brought together to engage in a community of practice in which they examined successes and challenges in their engagement efforts. In the report, you’ll find reflections and insights from the 14 diverse congregations, as well as The Five Questions, which may serve as a useful framework for managing expectations and measuring success in your planning processes.

The report reflects the Federation’s commitment to support and encourage congregations to meaningfully engage young adults in their 20s and 30s, a group that is often underrepresented in synagogues.
