Summer Seminar: Judaism & Social Justice in the 21st Century

Rut-174This summer the Daniel Centers for Progressive Judaism, the leading Reform institution in the Tel Aviv-Jaffa area, is teaming up with BINA Center for Jewish Identity and Hebrew Culture, to bring to life current critical social issues facing Israeli society and matters of Judaism & social justice in a new two week seminar for Jewish Educators, Leaders, Rabbis and Rabbinical Students. This seminar offers the opportunity to live in Tel Aviv-Jaffa and learn from some of Israel’s top scholars including our own Senior Rabbi Meir Azari.

Jewish leaders from all denominations and affiliations will have the opportunity to live in the first Hebrew city and study together while discovering the most critical issues of social justice that Israel faces today. Experience it all through hands-on volunteering, encounters with Israelis outside of the classroom and explore on educational tours.

Over two weeks, participants will delve into topics including social justice through both ancient and modern lenses, while simultaneously completing social action work with vulnerable populations ranging from elderly and holocaust survivors, to foreign workers and African asylum seekers or in a coexistence inspired environment with Arab & Jewish children.

Engage with leading activists and social change organizations while experiencing the life, culture and Jewish renaissance that the Daniel Centers and Tel Aviv-Jaffa offers.

Session date: July 20-31, 2014
