Shira & Friends Thanks NYC’s Essential Workers With the Help of Young Friends in “Todah Rabah” Music Video

While their city remains closed, some of New York City’s youngest residents are helping Shira & Friends, a NYC-based “kindie rock” band, to thank essential workers in the new music video “Todah Rabah.”

“Todah Rabah” are the Hebrew words for “thank you very much,” and in the video, shot entirely on cell phone cameras from their homes, children hold up signs showing their gratitude to those workers who are keeping the City functioning through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many of the children in the video are classmates at a Manhattan nursery school, and they have not seen each other in person since early March. Shira Kobren, the songwriter and band leader of Shira & Friends, is their music teacher.
