Rose Community Foundation Announces Third Quarter 2012 Grants
During the third quarter of 2012, Rose Community Foundation awarded 109 grants totaling more than $3.1 million. Of this amount, $2,993,170 was awarded for 38 grants from Rose Community Foundation’s program areas to nonprofit organizations, government agencies and projects that support the health and well-being of the Greater Denver community. In addition, 71 grants totaling $152,400 were approved from donor-advised funds housed at the Foundation. Rose Community Foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $187 million since its inception in 1995.
Grants to their Jewish Life program area include (partial list):
Denver Jewish Day School (Denver): $131,600 for consulting work to help this Jewish day school eliminate debt, including fundraising, land use and communications planning.
Hazon (New York, NY): $275,000 to support the Jewish food movement in the greater Denver/Boulder area. Project partners include 18 Pomegranates and Oreg Foundation.
Hillel of Colorado (Denver): $45,000 over three years for fundraising planning and communications coordination
Roots & Branches Foundation (Denver): $380,820 over three years for this initiative engaging Jewish adults, age 25 to 40, in an eight-month program to learn about philanthropy and become grantmakers. Rose Community Foundation serves as fiscal sponsor.
Jewish Jumpstart (Los Angeles, CA): $40,000 to conduct the National Survey of American Jewish Giving, and to organize training for Jewish nonprofit development professionals to learn from and apply key findings.
Judaism Your Way (Denver): $25,000 to expand programs for unengaged Jewish people in Boulder.
Keshet (Jamaica Plain, MA): $95,000 over two years to engage lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Jews with Colorado’s Jewish community, and to build the capacity of local Jewish organizations to welcome LGBT Jews.
Limmud Colorado (Denver): $31,000 for this volunteer-led organization that brings together Jews of all backgrounds to learn and teach.
