During the third quarter of 2010, Rose Community Foundation awarded 110 grants totaling more than $2.3 million. Of this amount, $2,119,743 was awarded for 54 grants from Rose Community Foundation’s program areas to nonprofit organizations, government agencies and projects that support the health and well-being of the Greater Denver community. In addition, 56 grants totaling $187,914 were approved from donor-advised funds housed at the Foundation. Rose Community Foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $163 million since its inception in 1995.

Of particular interest to our eJewish Philanthropy readers, are the following recently authorized grants:

• Hazon (New York, NY): $286,295 over two years to support the Jewish food movement in the greater Denver/Boulder area, including technical assistance, program expansion and subsidized participation in national Hazon programs. Project partners include 18 Pomegranates and Oreg Foundation.
• Jewish Student Union (New York, NY): $236,000 over four years to establish Jewish after-school teen clubs in five Denver public schools.
• Moishe House (Oakland, CA): $48,250 over two years for the Denver Moishe House, providing Jews in their 20s with Jewish programs in a residential setting.
• Nehirim (New York, NY): $20,000 for a May 2011 weekend retreat for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Jews in the Rocky Mountain region.
• University of Colorado at Boulder, Program in Jewish Studies (Boulder): $76,474 over three years to enhance and expand communications, donor and alumni relations, and Jewish educational programs for the community.
