Rising Tide Opens Applications for Online Mikveh Guide Training

Rising Tide Open Waters Mikveh Network has opened applications for Seven Steps: Becoming a Mikveh Guide, the first fully online mikveh guide training program of its kind, beginning on November 1st. Rising Tide welcomes applications from those who are interested in learning more about mikveh, in taking the first step towards meaningful volunteering in the Jewish community, are ritual innovators and reinventors, or simply want to learn how to hold space for people experiencing life transitions. The 8-week course includes both live and asynchronous learning and draws from rabbinic sources, psychology, and the experiences of current Mikveh Guides. Seven Steps addresses both traditional and contemporary uses for the mikveh. Participants leave the course empowered to welcome and support guests from a variety of backgrounds and serve as mikveh ambassadors in their communities.

Seven Steps was developed from the in-person training and curriculum created by Mayyim Hayyim in 2003 and used to train over 200 guides in the Boston area. The course has been updated and adapted to train guides all over the world, informed by Rising Tide Network members. Training Mikveh Guides to support both traditional and contemporary uses of mikveh is central to Rising Tide’s commitment to the open mikveh movement.
