Registration Open: BBYO Michigan Business and Entrepreneurship Institute

BBYO and Summer Discovery are partnering to offer an opportunity for Jewish high school students to attend the University of Michigan for two weeks during the summer while participating in the BBYO Michigan Business and Entrepreneurship Institute. The partnership was formed to create a unique program tailored to explore the skills needed to succeed as an entrepreneur and the Jewish values that can guide business leaders. The program will engage students through classroom activities, field trips and interactions with Jewish business leaders. Students will learn about the concepts of competitive advantage, ownership, opportunity recognition, marketing, finance and product development. The summer program begins July 20, 2014 and is open by application to all Jewish high school students.

The program concludes with a competition where participant working groups present original business plans to a panel of judges from the business community, with the winners receiving cash prizes toward the implementation of their business plan. The program will also include afternoon and evening activities such as attending a Detroit Tigers baseball game, visiting The Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, enjoying Cedar Point Amusement Park. Participants will experience college life at the University of Michigan residing in a college dorm and using campus facilities. Participants will celebrate Shabbat, learn about entrepreneurship in Israel and explore Jewish values relating to business. BBYO and Summer Discovery will provide Resident Counselors to support the students and oversee campus living.
