New Grant Opportunities from Natan Fund
The Natan Fund, a giving circle based in New York City that supports Jewish and Israeli social innovation, is pleased to announce three open grant and award opportunities:
1. Natan Book Award at the Jewish Book Council
In partnership with the Jewish Book Council, Natan is opening a new application cycle for the Natan Book Award. The award is a unique pre-publication prize for a breakthrough, non-fiction book on Jewish themes that is intended for mainstream audiences and will catalyze conversations around the issues that Natan grapples with in its grantmaking: the reinvention of Jewish life and community for the 21st century; changing notions of individual and collective Jewish identity; and the evolving relationship between Israel and world Jewry. The Award consists of a cash award to the author of $10,000, to be used during the writing process; and customized support for the marketing and publicity strategy for the book, up to $15,000.

2. Grants for Initiatives for Russian-Speaking Jews
Natan’s Grants for Initiatives for Russian-Speaking Jews (RSJ) support initiatives that build Jewish community and strengthen Jewish life among Russian-Speaking Jews in North America, especially those who are not currently engaged in Jewish communal life. North America-based organizations with annual operating budgets of $1.5 million or less are invited to apply for one-year grants of up to $50,000.

Natan is grateful to the Genesis Philanthropy Group for matching a portion of the RSJ committee members’ contributions. 3. Innovate Against Hate
Natan is partnering with the Anti-Defamation League to offer the Innovate Against Hate award, which will support innovative grassroots approaches to counter the rise of hate online, to deter abuse, and to protect users from cyber harassment. This partnership is intended to catalyze creative approaches to uncovering and combating not only antisemitism, but a myriad of forms of hate online.? Finalists will participate in a “fast pitch” competition in front of a panel of judges at an event in Summer 2017. One first-place winner will receive a grant of $35,000, and one runner-up will receive a grant of $15,000.
