Nathan Cummings Foundation Accepting Applications for New Fellows Program

Three innovators will soon have the opportunity to change the world in one year with $100,000
and an office space in New York City

New York, July 31, 2012: Today, the New York-based Nathan Cummings Foundation is launching a new Fellowship program to give money and infrastructure to three visionary ideas that address issues relating to social or economic justice.

“The Nathan Cummings Foundation Fellowship Program seeks to give risk-takers and out-of-the-box thinkers the resources they’ll need to execute groundbreaking projects that address major social or economic issues of our time,” said Simon Greer, President and CEO of the Nathan Cummings Foundation. “We are seeking a person who always had a vision and a dream, but lacked the resources to make that dream a reality.”

The Nathan Cummings Foundation is committed to democratic values and social justice, including fairness, diversity, and community. It seeks to build a socially and economically just society that:

• Values and protects the ecological balance for future generations;
• Promotes humane and accessible health care;
• Fosters arts and culture that enriches communities;
• Supports efforts that have defined the work of Jewish social justice in the US and opened debates to new thinking on Israel.

The Fellowship is open to all qualified U.S. citizens. Selected fellows will be required to work from the Foundation’s office in New York.

Applications must be received by midnight September 14, 2012. Six to nine finalists will present their ideas to the Nathan Cummings Foundation board in Spring 2013. The final three will serve for the grant term of May 1, 2013 to April 30, 2014.
