Within the framework of the Jewish Agency’s current restructuring process, respected foreign media spokesperson Michael Jankelowitz has accepted the organization’s offer to take early retirement, beginning July 1, 2011.

Jankelowitz has been employed by the World Zionist Organization and Jewish Agency in various capacities since leaving the National Union of Israel Students in 1978: as director of student affairs at the American Zionist Youth Foundation in New York, as international director of the WZO’s Student Division, as Jewish Agency representative to Hillel in Washington, as advisor on world Jewry to the Jewish Agency Treasurer and most recently as spokesman to the foreign press for the Jewish Agency.

Jankelowitz told eJP, “These years have been immensely fulfilling and satisfying and have been greatly enriched by my association with so many people.” He continued, “I plan to continue my involvement with the Jewish People as a consultant to companies interested in expanding the scope of their activities within the Jewish world.”

The Jewish Agency has opened a tender for the position. Whomever is selected, has their work cut out for them.
