LA Jewish Community Foundation Invites Proposals for 2014 Cutting Edge Grants

CEGI-Header_485_168-1The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles (The Foundation) has opened applications for its 2014 Cutting Edge Grants program. There will be an informational workshop for grantseekers on October 23, 2013, with an application submission deadline of November 27, 2013. A maximum of $250,000 for up to three years is offered to fund innovative programs that address important, substantiated needs in the Los Angeles Jewish community.

Organizations or individuals interested in applying for a Cutting Edge Grant can learn more about the process by visiting jewishfoundationla.org/CEG, as well as participating in the Grantseekers Workshop. Information at the workshop will include selection criteria and tips on writing a competitive concept paper. Advance registration is required. Jewish nonprofit organizations or social entrepreneurs may receive funding for:

  • Untested, ground-breaking programs;
  • Successful Los Angeles pilot programs ready for community-wide implementation;
  • Local adaptations of high-impact initiatives proven outside of Los Angeles; or,
  • Programs designed by social entrepreneurs to create new nonprofit organizations.

Awards will be announced in late summer 2014. In 2013, The Foundation awarded $1.23 million in Cutting Edge Grants to seven recipients. Since establishing the Cutting Edge Grants Initiative in 2006, The Foundation has provided financial support of nearly $9 million to launch 46 ground-breaking programs.
