L.A. Federation Announces Fishel Fellowship

The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles has opened applications for the newly-established Fishel Fellowship, created specifically for Jewish young adults who have a passion for the Jewish community and global service.

One exceptional individual from Los Angeles between the ages of 21–25 will be selected as the inaugural Fishel Fellow. During the two-year paid fellowship (beginning in the spring of 2013), the Fishel Fellow will receive extensive leadership training and participate in hands-on community service in both Jewish and non-Jewish humanitarian settings throughout the world.

The Fishel Fellowship was named in honor of former Federation President John Fishel, a leading advocate for global social entrepreneurship who helped develop the program.

The Fishel Fellow will help develop social change projects, train civic activists, organize communities, and institute community infrastructure projects – all with the greater purpose of becoming an active Jewish community leader and social entrepreneur whose ideas will spark, motivate, and create change in the community.

Applications for the Fishel Fellowship are being accepted through January 15, 2013. Additional information can be found at JewishLA.org/Fishel.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles is collaborating with American Jewish World Service (AJWS) and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) on the Fishel Fellowship.
