JJ Greenberg Memorial Award Presented to Justin Korda

Justin Korda, Executive Director of ROI Community, has been named this year’s recipient of the annual JJ Greenberg Memorial Award. The award, which is administered by the Jewish Funders Network (JFN), was presented today at the 2017 JFN International Conference in Atlanta.

The award was created and endowed by JJ’s family, friends, and colleagues following his untimely death in a traffic accident in 2002, at just 36. The award is presented annually to an individual who, like JJ, has exemplified the highest of Jewish values and the relentless pursuit of excellence in all aspects of life.

Justin has been with ROI since its inception in 2005. Growing up in Montreal, Canada, he saw how young people can truly be instruments for change, thereby setting the stage for a life of Jewish activism. Justin believes in the importance of making Judaism accessible to a new generation of Jews who live in a secular world that competes for their interest.

In 1999, he led the first Taglit-Birthright Israel trip from Canada. Justin went on to become the coordinator of follow-up programs for returning participants and later served in a number of positions at the Canada-Israel Experience, where he was instrumental in implementing Taglit-Birthright Israel for the initial 5,000 Canadian participants.

ROI Community is an initiative of the Schusterman Foundation.
