Jewish Agency Student Conference Concludes with Buchenwald Visit

Participants in the Jewish Agency’s German Student Conference visited the Buchenwald Concentration Camp, near Weimar, Germany, earlier today. A student placed a wreath to commemorate everyone who was killed during the Holocaust and candles were lit in their memory. The Kaddish was recited and the ceremony ended with the singing of Hatikvah.

The wreath laying coincided [also this morning] with a similar ceremony where the President of Germany, Christian Wulff, placed a wreath at the tomb of Theodor Herzl on Jerusalem’s Mt Herzl. Wulff was escorted by two officers of the German Army.
