JDC is now working with both the Afya Foundation and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to provide a critically needed water shipment and other relief supplies to earthquake damaged areas in Japan. Afya is working with local Japanese groups on the ground to get such supplies to the most needy. JDC and Afya previously partnered in Haiti, ensuring medical supplies, blankets, clothing and other supplies were delivered to earthquake victims. JICA is Japan’s aid and development arm.

JDC is also working with the local Japanese Jewish community to distribute emergency supplies to the hardest-hit Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures through JEN, a Japanese NGO.
