This week UK artist Lynne Stein is visiting Jerusalem, incorporating old, unwanted clothes into an exciting piece of artwork for DVI, the largest free dental clinic in Israel. She and the clinic’s young patients are producing a wall-hanging that will become a permanent feature at the DVI Clinic in Jerusalem – enhancing the look and feel of the pediatric clinic.

Lynne creates wall-hangings using a variety of traditional textile processes. Children in Manchester, pupils from Years 1 and 4 at North Cheshire Jewish Primary School, helped Lynne in the creation of the first half of the mural – and Jerusalem children are working on the second half all this week.

AMIT donated 35 white and pink t-shirts, left-over from their involvement in the first ever Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Israel and Yavneh Olami (a Religious Zionist international student organization) donated 50 black t-shirts.

The project aims to:

• Offer a positive model of a project promoting peace, charity and volunteering
• Foster a sense of ownership and pride among the children
• Sooth children, reducing anxiety when attending the clinic
• Endow the clinic with a permanent, attractive piece of art on its walls
• Raise the profile of the DVI Clinic worldwide.
