In Full Bloom: Taglit on The Salad Trail
A popular stop for many Taglit-Birthright Israel participants are the greenhouses on The Salad Trail in the northern Negev. Offering tourists and locals a priceless visit into the power of cultivation and determination, one mans’ dreams and an organizations’ thrill of exploration and preservation have created a perfect combination to bringing the desert to bloom.
Agronomist Uri Alon, a specialist in international agriculture, created this unique experience in 2004.
Today, The Salad Trail touches over 40,000 tourists a year – just one example of how Taglit-Birthright Israel has increased peripheral tourism across the country and provides for much of the business activity during low seasons and challenging times.
