A truly wonderful man, who will be terribly missed by all who knew him. Baruch Dayan Ha’emet.

May Ilia’s memory be a blessing. For those of us so fortunate to know him, travel with him and learn from him, he will be so missed. Ilia was a friend, board member and global champion for Jewish life. His passing leaves the world with a giant void.

I had the pleasure to meet Ilia when the Genesis Philanthropy Group took a group of Hornstein students to visit Moscow’s Jewish community. A great leader and teacher. He will be so missed.

A dear friend, a cherished colleague, and a wonderful man. We miss you already, Ilia.

A mensch, a visionary and a treasured colleague. May Ilia’s memory indeed be for a blessing.

  7. Cindy Chazan says

    June 30, 2020 at 4:30 pm

Ilia was a true mensch with a keen focus to bring Judaism in multiple forms to all segments of the Russian speaking Jewish community. This goal brought him into so many spheres of connection and all who were touched by him respected his infectious passion- and that twinkle in his eye when something made him laugh! He will be sorely missed.
    Taken way too soon.
    Cindy Chazan

  8. Michael Bohnen says

    June 30, 2020 at 4:53 pm

Ilya was a valued colleague. We would talk about the Jewish world and he always had unique insights, but he always took the opportunity to tell me about his sons. He was very proud of them. He will be greatly missed.

  9. David Schizer says

    July 1, 2020 at 1:17 am

Ilia was the gold standard — talented, dedicated, kind, and so much fun! This is a great loss for the countless people whose lives he touched, and for those of us fortunate enough to call him a friend. May his memory be for a blessing.
