Hurricane Sandy: How To Help Now

from Repair the World:

The impact of Hurricane Sandy has been unprecedented, and we hope that you and your families are safe and secure. As of now we know that: millions of people are still without power, thousands of flights have been cancelled, transportation hubs are down, and homes, buildings and roads have been devastated in the Tri-State area, along the east coast, and internationally.

We’ve witnessed the heroic feats of our extraordinary service men and women. Many people are now tweeting, posting, calling, emailing, and trying to figure out who needs help and where to lend a hand. Now more than ever, your community needs you. What will you help Repair? Here are a few ways you can help now.

from Jewish Funders Network:

We have contacted our partners in JFNA and other major Jewish organizations. JFNA is opening a mailbox, as will several Federations in the Northeast. In general, though, the Community is still in “assessment mode” to determine the extent of the damage and identify specific needs. Different players are trying to evaluate the needs of affected Jewish communities in the region, and liaising with government and other organizations to assess the needs of the community at large.

You can donate to JFNA’s hurricane relief fund here.

Amongst others, The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) has established a hurricane relief find as has UJA-Federation of New York, www.ujafedny.org/hurricane-sandy-relief-fund/.
