Hillel Launches Student Coalition Against Nuclear Iran

Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life, in cooperation with the Israel on Campus Coalition (ICC), has launched the Student Coalition Against Nuclear Iran (SCANI), a student-run network that will oppose Iran’s efforts to acquire nuclear weapons and raise the profile of the Iranian threat on their campuses.

On January 28, more than 100 students from 50 campuses and all 50 states participated in a Web conference to discuss Iran and to plan coordinated action. Joining the students on the call and providing analysis were Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Gabriela Shalev, former CIA Director Ambassador James Woolsey, Executive Vice Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations Malcolm Hoenlein, AIPAC Director of Policy and Government Affairs Brad Gordon, and Hillel President Wayne L. Firestone. ICC Executive Director Steve Kuperberg moderated the call.

SCANI is targeting the week of February 22, leading to the Jewish holiday of Purim, as a time of action on Iran.
