Educators, Clergy and Musical Artists to Convene for Songleader Boot Camp

Conference to be held in St Louis, February 19-21

The 2017 Songleader Boot Camp (SLBC) National Conference will bring together over 250 North American Jewish professionals to expand their leadership skills and inspire change in their communities. Songleader Boot Camp is a powerful force in American Jewish life, inspiring growth and engagement among thousands of participants, and is a direct answer to the Jewish community’s leadership crisis. Now in its 8th year, SLBC’s innovative and soulful approach has attracted more than 2,000 clergy, musicians and lay leaders who want to develop their leadership skills and truly impact their home communities.

Launched in 2009 by internationally touring Jewish music artist and SLBC Executive Director, Rick Recht, SLBC National Conference convenes an extraordinary interdenominational community of rabbis, cantors, Jewish educators, family engagement specialists, Jewish camping staff and veteran and new song leaders. Recht shares that, “More than ever, the Jewish world needs passionate, visionary, and highly-effective leaders. There are very few formal leadership training opportunities for clergy, Jewish educators and lay leaders. SLBC fills this void by providing a unique, immersive and pluralistic atmosphere for Jewish leaders to learn skills and strategies that will have long term impact in their communities.” In addition to both national and regional conferences, SLBC also offers leadership training seminars and personal coaching throughout the year.

Led by nationally renowned Jewish leaders, educators and music artists, SLBC teaches participants new ways to create powerful, interactive connections, expand their leadership abilities and learn skills and techniques to inspire change in their communities. Songleader Boot Camp has partnered with many of the top national Jewish organizations, including PJ Library, JCCA Camps, Ramah Camping Movement, and the Cantor’s Assembly. SLBC will feature the 3rd annual PJ Library Track for more than 54 family engagement professionals from across the United States who were selected through a highly competitive application process. SLBC also features specialty tracks for clergy, educators, songleaders and alumni. This year, SLBC has partnered with the National Ramah Commission to launch the inaugural SLBC Ramah Shabbaton weekend that will lead into the SLBC National Conference. The weekend will focus on prayer and song leadership skills that are specific to Conservative Movement settings, providing the time, space, and atmosphere for in-depth learning, strategizing, and spiritual transformation.

Faculty and presenters for the 2017 SLBC National Conference includes top Jewish leaders, educators and musical specialists from across the United States including Rabbi David Ingber, Rabbi Sharon Brous, Cantor Ellen Dreskin, Rick Recht, Ellen Allard, Rabbi Susan Talve, Shira Kline, Neshama Carlebach, Noah Aronson, Billy Jonas, Hazzan Joanna Dulkin, Josh Warshawsky, Rabbi Brad Horwitz, Naomi Less and more.
