Dr. Ziva R. Hassenfeld has been named as Brandeis University’s next Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel chair in Jewish education, with the rank of assistant professor. She will begin in July, following the transition of Professor Sharon Feiman-Nemser to emerita status at the end of June. Dr. Hassenfeld joins Professors Jon A. Levisohn and Jonathan Krasner at Brandeis’s Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education.
Dr. Hassenfeld is currently a post-doctoral fellow with the DevTech research group at Tufts University. She spent three years as a post-doctoral fellow at the Mandel Center after earning her Ph.D. in Education and Jewish studies at Stanford University.

Foundation for Jewish Camp (FJC) has announced the appointment of Nila Rosen to its staff in the newly-created role of Director of Learning & Research.
As part of FJC’s strategic vision, the Director of Learning & Research will champion efforts to build and sustain a learning culture, develop infrastructure and processes for meaningful evaluation and replication, contribute knowledge through enhanced research and intellectual inquiry, and accelerate innovation.
Nila is an alumna of the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned her MPH in Epidemiology, Maternal Child Health.
As Director of Evaluation & Research at FJC, Nila Rosen will partner with CEO Jeremy Fingerman and COO Marina Lewin to strategically enhance the quantity, quality, and consistency of FJC’s already extensive data capabilities to drive innovation, create thought leadership, evaluate and address learnings from successes and failures, create longitudinal data for the field, and identify and execute on action-oriented opportunities to highlight insights and accelerate learnings with staff, the FJC Board, and camp and funder communities.

Tzedek has appointed Kira Blumer to be its new CEO effective 20th March 2020.
Kira joins Tzedek with more than a decade of leadership and management experience in the Canadian, American and British Jewish communities.
Kira, who was born in Calgary, Canada, has held senior positions in BBYO, Hillel, JCC, and Federation. She is known for her career in leadership development and community building. Kira is also a member of the Schusterman Family Foundation’s ROI Community.
