Asher Ostrin named Interim CEO at JDC

Asher Ostrin has been named Interim CEO at JDC, a position he will assume on January 1, 2020. He is the former director of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee’s former Soviet Union operation and currently serves as JDC’s senior executive for international affairs.

David Schizer, JDC’s current CEO, will return to Columbia University at the start of 2020. A search is currently underway to identify a successor.

Asher has represented JDC on the global stage with a wide range of funders, partner organizations, governments, and other key stakeholders. Asher lectures widely on JDC’s pivotal role in shaping 20th- and 21st-century Jewish history and is a recognized expert in the post-Soviet Jewish experience.
