Chabad Expanding in FSU Countries

by Tamar Runyan

Over the coming year, 20 new Chabad-Lubavitch emissary families will take up residence in former Soviet countries, a committee of leaders announced in a dispatch from the annual conference of Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries to the former Soviet Union.

According to the announcement, which capped a celebration of 20 years of Chabad-Lubavitch activities since the fall of the Iron Curtain, the new emissaries will focus on youth education, seminar development, Sabbath programs and Torah classes.

An added push will focus on increasing kosher food availability throughout Russian-speaking countries, including the opening of kosher supermarkets.
