British Telecom Launches Giving Website

BT has launched MyDonate, a charitable giving website that will compete with sites such as JustGiving and Virgin Money Giving.

UK charities are to receive a much-needed cash injection following the launch of MyDonate – a new free online charitable fundraising service.

The service has been developed by British Telecom (BT) after the company worked closely with a number of charities – including Cancer Research UK, Changing Faces, KidsOut, NSPCC and Women’s Aid.

MyDonate guarantees that 100 per cent of all monies donated go direct to charities with the exception of credit/debit card charges.

According to a spokesperson for BT, a donation of £10, for example, would have 15p deducted from it if it was made by debit card and 13p if it was made by credit card. These charges would go to the credit and debit card companies.

Charities will be allowed to receive Gift Aid on donations made through the site.

Charities looking to sign up to MyDonate or wanting to find further information about the service should visit the MyDonate website.
