Applications Now Open for Mandel Jerusalem Fellows 2010-2011

The Mandel Leadership Institute is pleased to announce that registration for Cohort 28 of the Mandel Jerusalem Fellows (MJF) is now open.

Program
MJF is a year-long fellowship program at the Mandel Leadership Institute in Jerusalem for exceptional leaders in Jewish education and community innovation. MJF Fellows reflect on their professional practice, challenge and refine their conceptions of Jewish life and engagement, developing well-grounded visions for the next phase of their careers.

Candidates
MJF seeks talented mid-career Jewish educators and communal innovators with proven leadership abilities who are interested in effecting broad change. Eligible candidates include social entrepreneurs, directors of cutting-edge educational initiatives and leaders of major Jewish organizations.

Fellowship
The fellowship provides a generous living stipend, including transportation costs to and from Israel and health insurance for the fellow and his/her family.

The 2009-10 Cohort includes:

  • Jill Jacobs, Rabbi in Residence for the Jewish Funds for Justice, NYC
  • Sarra Lev, Chair of the Department of Rabbinics at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, Wyncote, PA
  • Leonel Levy, Associate Rabbi of Bet El Congregation, Mexico City
  • Nina Kujawski Price, Director of Congregational Learning at Congregation Beth El of the Sudbury River Valley, MA
  • Andrea Hendler, most recently Director of the Muehlstein Institute for Jewish Professional Leadership, NYC
  • Susan Silverman, Co-author of the best-selling book Jewish Family & Life and co-founder of its companion website and magazines, Israel
  • Lisa Goldstein, Executive Director of Hillel of San Diego, CA
  • David Stoleru, Architect and co-founder of the Zakhor Study Center in Barcelona for the preservation and transmission of Jewish heritage of Spain
