In early November, twenty-two community builders gathered in NYC for the launch of Amplifier’s 5th Giving Circle Incubator – the most diverse cohort yet. Demonstrating clearly that giving circles are adaptable to any community and setting, these leaders are starting new giving circles at day schools, synagogues, Federations, across the Reform movement, in Hillels, and with their friends and neighbors in communities across the US, Israel and Latin America. As part of Amplifier’s emerging work in helping to build the American giving circle movement writ large, and in response to demand from outside the Jewish community for giving circle training, the cohort also includes Muslims and Christians.

The giving circles that Incubator participants will build over the next six months will introduce hundreds of people at all financial levels to the power of collective giving inspired by Jewish values. The Incubator supports these new giving circle leaders through in-person training, webinars, and individualized coaching. Each successful giving circle that participants build then offers a new model for potential replication. (For example, the first Federation and day school giving circles, from Cohort 1 and 2 have led to the replication of this model in many other Federations and schools.)

Each participant comes with a different set of programmatic and philanthropic goals.
