Based on information made available yesterday, in the past three weeks the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee has raised over $4 million in aid for Haiti and the American Jewish World Service has raised over $5 million.

American Jewish World Service is Jewish in name of their donors only. They have no connection to Israel and will not fund projects here. I know, I asked. I was able to find out that they were helping Arab women in Gaza a few years ago but to help an Israeli non profit is something that they are not interested in doing. Sadly, few other Jewish organizations are willing to help either. But we are the first to run when anyone anywhere else in the world needs help. Why can’t we start at home first and then move out… it’s truly a question that needs to be answered.
