The Jewish Education Project Announces Young Pioneers Award 2016 Recipients

Five exceptional and highly innovative Jewish educators will receive the 5th annual Jewish Education Project Young Pioneers Award.

These award recipients have expanded the possibilities of Jewish learning experiences to inspire children and teens in new ways, adopting game-based learning to transform Torah studies, merging theater and child-driven learning, and using puppetry, storytelling and music to highlight the sensory aspect of ritual. Other innovations include original teen learning experiences in a congregational setting and creating shared learning between parents and their children.

In recognition of their innovative approaches to Jewish education, Ariella Falack, Judaic Studies teacher at Magen David Yeshivah High School; Jen Vegh, Director of Youth & Family Engagement at the Beth El Synagogue Center; Leora Frankel, Associate Rabbi at the Community Synagogue of Rye; Jane Tuv, Director of Russian-speaking Children & Families Programs, Generation R at JCC Manhattan and Founding Director of Arlekino Theater Troupe; Ora Fruchter, Artistic Director of Yellow Sneaker Puppets and Teaching Artist at Avoda Arts, have each been selected to receive the Young Pioneers Award 2016.

The recipients will be recognized at a Celebration to benefit The Jewish Education Project on May 9th. The celebration will also thank Rabbi Dr. Marty Schloss, Director, Government Relations and General Studies at The Jewish Education Project, for 35 years of professional service to advancing day school and Yeshiva education.
