While funders and philosophers may talk about engagement and continuity, I prefer to find ways to add joy to Jewishness. Surely, it will lead to greater identification. Because for all its burdens and blessings, its mitzvot and its mishegas, being Jewish should make you happier. That's the reason I'm risking it all to create a Boston Jewish Music Festival. It may not be more important as somethings, but I myself just can't picture life (or the community I would want to live in) without great music.
So what is the big question we answer?
Can music help people have a bit more pride in being Jewish?
Absolutely.
Can we find the funding to do it?
Stay tuned.
