Oranim Educational Initiatives Has Been Sold

Oranim Education Initiatives, a long-time leader in Jewish educational travel programming, has been sold. Founded by “Momo” Lifshitz in 1986, Oranim was at one time the largest provider of Birthright Israel trips. Made famous by meeting with every single group that came through Oranim and telling the participants, “raise your children Jewish”, Momo and Birthright parted company with a very public divorce in 2009.

Oranim’s new owner is Egged Tours, a subsidiary company of the Egged Bus Cooperative, and will be run by former Israel Experience executive Danny Mor. The new company, Oranim-Israel Way, is already back on the Birthright bandwagon as a tour provider beginning this summer, a first for the Egged organization.
