Moishe House opens 1st house in Montevideo

Moshe House has opened its first house in Uruguay’s capital city of Montevideo.

Following the Moishe House model, the residents of Moishe House Montevideo will open their home to the community five to six times each month, and, in return, will receive a partial rent stipend and a programming budget, along with training and staff support. Moishe House Montevideo is made possible by support from Moishe House’s Global Community Fund, Ben and Esther Rosenbloom Foundation Inc., and an anonymous donor.

Uruguay’s Jewish community is estimated to be between 20-25,000 including 300 millennials living in Montevideo.

This first house in Uruguay is part of Moishe House’s efforts to expand in South America. Moishe House currently has 87 houses in 20 countries, including one other South American house in Buenos Aires. The organization also plans to expand to Brazil and Chile.
