Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles Creates Online Database to Identify Giving Opportunities

The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles (The Foundation) has launched Search2Give, a searchable online database to assist donors in finding nonprofit organizations that are working in a variety of interest areas and communities. The database, which is available to the public at no charge currently lists approximately 550 nonprofit agencies.

Search2Give is believed to be the first comprehensive searchable online database of nonprofit organizations provided by a Jewish community foundation in the United States. The resource is the newest in a series of services offered by the Center for Designed Philanthropy, which provides personal guidance and creative solutions for donors seeking strategies to magnify the impact of their giving.

The database, which will be updated regularly, includes organizations that have recently received a minimum of $20,000 or more from The Foundation and its 1,000-plus donors. Donors can search and identify nonprofits that help fulfill their philanthropic goals based on a variety of criteria, including population served, area of interest and geographic location. In addition, the resource provides convenient hyperlinks to further background information on nonprofits such as IRS status from GuideStar and the Urban Institute’s National Center for Charitable Statistics.
