Jewish Agency Honored For Its Contributions to Cultural Advancement

This past Friday, the Jewish Agency received an award from the Israeli Union of Performing Artists in recognition of the Agency’s important contributions toward the advancement of culture and arts in Israel, particularly in the country’s peripheral regions, and for the assistance it has given to immigrant artists from around the world.

As part of its wide range of activities aimed at strengthening regions of national priority, the Jewish Agency sponsors dozens of cultural events in peripheral areas, including the Karmiel Festival, the Klezmer Festival in Safed, the Acre Festivals, and many others. The Agency also provided a variety of cultural activities for youths living in war-torn regions during the Second Lebanon War and during Operation Cast Lead, in order to help alleviate stress and tension.

Additionally, the Jewish Agency works to market Israeli culture in Jewish communities throughout the world through its emissaries, exposing these communities to dozens of Israeli artists and productions.
